Guitar and Vocal Lessons
in Salem Ma

Guitar Lessons... Learn the fundamentals of rock guitar. All ages are welcome, young and old... no previous experience with an instrument is necessary. You need to have your own guitar, though... although I will be bringing mine as well... the one that you see here, actually. Booking students in Salem MA and surrounding areas for this spring. During our in-home lessons, we'll be covering basic rhythm techniques, barre chords, power chords, scales, triads and diads, 7th chords, suspended chords, the blues scale, pentatonic scale, major and minor scales, chord progressions, picking techniques, rests and note duration, how to read sheet music and TAB, learn music theory, ear training, guitar styles, and more. guitar instructor | guitar lessons I've put together a list of music ranging from classic rock like Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, and Journey... to 80s glam and hard rock like Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, Poison, Warrant, and Whitesnake... to heavier metal like Ratt, Skid Row, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns n Roses, and Dio... depending on the kind of music you want to play. We'll cover famous riffs and intros to different songs and study the styles of certain guitarists like George Lynch of Dokken and Neal Schon of Journey. We'll practice different rock anthems and heavy metal classics and work on some of your own favorites if you want. If it's a guitar section in a song I'm not familiar with or something I've never played before, we can learn it together. The first 10 or so minutes of your lesson will be setting up, tuning your guitar, and warm up exercises like playing scales or practicing switching chords, and a short review of where we left off. From there, we go straight into learning the riffs, chord progressions, and other elements of different songs I have picked for the program along with songs you may have brought in yourself that you'd like to learn. If you're a heavy metal fan, we'll also be learning techniques from the Troy Stetina metal rhythm guitar series, featuring exercises and examples in the styles of ACDC, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, and KISS. If you are more into country, pop, or other genres rather than rock, we can still learn basic chords and music theory, and other elements of guitar playing to help you learn the basics of playing your instrument. The program is designed for you, the beginner, and we can focus on the style of music and types of songs you want to learn, so I'll do my best to help you on your way. As a little boy in the 70s and growing up as a teenager through the 80s, I was around through the disco era and also loved what we now call yacht rock, so I'm sure we can come up with a list of songs to learn that works best for you. Based out of the Gloucester area, I am now scheduling beginner music students for Danvers, Burlington, and Salem guitar lessons as well as other nearby towns. Just bring your love of music, your instrument, and get ready for some of the most fun and affordable guitar lessons Salem and surrounding areas have to offer. To learn more about me and my musical journey, feel free to check out the links above for a detailed history of my childhood and highschool years growing up in Southwestern Pennsylvania and my life from back then on up through today as well as many photos along the way.

Vocal Lessons... Classic Rock, Pop, Country, 80s Metal, and more. Sing like the rockstars ! Learn the basic fundamentals of singing with the authentic bel canto method of classical singing along with other modern techniques, applied to classic rock and other styles. Salem MA and surrounding areas. No experience or equipment is necessary... just bring yourself and your voice! Children, teens, young adults, and older folks like me... are all welcome. Its never too late to do something you enjoy so let's get started ! Most of my training by vocal coaches or voice instructors has been practicing the bel canto method known as "beautiful singing" in the Italian style. I've incorporated these methods into singing 80s rock and improved my range and technique to sing songs by Foreigner, Journey, Heart, Stevie Nicks, Styx, Dokken, Skid Row / Sebastian Bach, David Coverdale and Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Warrant, and more. vocal lessons | singing lessons We'll cover different types of vocal warm ups and exercises, singing scales and vowels, body posture, open throat technique, and singing from your diaphragm. The first 10 or so minutes of our lesson will be to warm up using these vowel exercises and scales to thin out the vocal chords and prevent injury or strain and to get you ready to sing different songs in all styles of music. I've put together a great list of example songs that highlight the different techniques we'll be covering including higher range notes, holding long notes, falsetto, distortion, and vibrato. Most vocal instructors in my experience tend to play piano while the student sings, but I will bring my guitar to your house and play scales for you to sing along to for warm ups and vocal exercises. We'll also work on different ways to activate your diaphragm, so that you're not singing from your throat and wearing yourself out or causing injury. Classic Rock and Metal fans... We'll be singing songs by The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Journey, Styx, and glam /hair metal bands like Warrant, Dokken, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Great White, Whitesnake, and others. We'll have you learn to sing over the original song playing in the background as well as over instrumental versions if we can find them, and I'll sing along side of you at times like a duet. Later on, I can bring a vocal mic, vocal instructor | vocal coach voice processor / mixer, and pa system if you'd like to see how you would sound in a live setting. Much like karaoke, or being on a stage... this would be a good way to see how your voice carries with effects and amplification in a small venue... yet in the privacy of your own home. I will do everything I can to make your Salem vocal lessons fun and to help you learn techniques to become a better singer while working on your favorite kinds of songs. Having attended McGrail School of Voice in Pittsburgh learning the Bel Canto style of singing when I was in my early 30s, as well as taking vocal lessons at the Little Lesson House at Pianos n Stuff Music in Blawnox, Pennsylvania as I got older, and following several online vocal coaches in between... I've put together a program where we apply all those vocal techniques to 80s style hard rock... and we can also use those same techniques to help you learn to sing the style of music you want. When taking vocal lessons Salem area students and other music students from rural towns and counties usually have to drive all the way into Boston to learn from some of the more well known voice instructors. But I'm not far away, and my prices are more affordable than most of the more established vocal coaches in the Boston area. So, before making your decision to enroll in an expensive far from home music program, give me a call and lets talk about what you want to sing and maybe I can help you from what I've learned over the years at different music schools and also help you save some money and have more fun while you're learning. You dont have to be into rock and metal to learn how to sing. Depending on the style of music that you want to learn to vocals to... I have many examples of songs that are great for learning to sing properly including early 90s country like Travis Tritt, Diamond Rio, Faith Hill, and Alabama... along with 70s/80s pop like Olivia Newton John, Stevie Nick's, and Rod Stewart. You can choose from classic rock, or hair metal... and even yacht rock / soft rock from the late 70s and early 1980s like Ambrosia, Little River Band, Atlanta Rhythm Station, and Dr Hook. We can also work on contemporary Christian praise and worship music such as Hillsong United, Jeremy Camp, and New Life Church, or traditional church choir hymns and Christmas classics. The style of music is up to you. We can focus on just male or female songs for your vocal lessons instead of both, and you can also bring in your own songs to sing and we can learn them together.
